The Heldman Center is a 60,000-square-foot education facility on the West Los Angeles College campus. The building houses the learning resource center, telecommunications center, and student support offices.

Heldman (HLRC) is an integrated multi-phase project aimed at reducing underutilized building areas, demolishing aging and underperforming buildings, strengthening campus entry and pedestrian framework, and optimizing the accommodation of relocated departments. Currently, it is in the design phase.

In this project, PMCS Group provides support to the College Project Team (PMs) for design and Project Programming Criteria (PPC) for Low Voltage Infrastructure. This encompasses Data Network Horizontal and Backbone Cabling (Copper/Fiber Optic), BDF/IDF Room definition including Equipment Racks, Ladder Racks & Trays, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Power Distribution Unit (PDU), and Grounding. Management of Campus Fiber Optic Cable to all buildings and interact with the CPT to develop the Scope of Work for cabling vendor (Contractor) Site Survey. Additionally, responsible for Wireless Access Points to cover the internal and exterior areas of buildings, the relocation of the AT&T MPOE from the existing building to TLC2 (with the existing building to be demolished as part of the project), and Audio-Visual setup for classrooms, conference rooms, and multipurpose rooms.

Our duties include reviewing and responding to submittals for equipment (fiber/copper cable, data equipment, UPS, BDF/IDF equipment), RFIs, and reviewing Low Voltage design drawings for the Heldman Center and campus fiber and copper cable runs from all campus buildings to Heldman Center and TLC2. We also process the Bill of Materials (B.O.M.) and purchase equipment, manage Access Control (building and emergency lockdown), and oversee Security (cameras, emergency telephones) both internal and external to the building. Additionally, we conduct site surveys to verify requirements for campus Low Voltage infrastructure.
